This week Zach Johnson, currently the world's #26th ranked player, returns to San Antonio to defend his title at the Valero Texas Open. Will a 4-round score of 261 be enough to take home the winner's trophy again this year? Three key factors will affect the outcome.
First, Johnson himself. Year-to-date Johnson has won in Hawaii and had strong showings in at least 2 other events. His game appears up to the challenge.
Second, the course conditions. Hot, dry, and windy conditions should favor Johnson as well.
And most importantly, the field. With some of the big names, e.g. Woods, Mickelson, et. al. taking time off after The Players Championship open the door for Johnson and other top 30 ranked players such as Paul Goydos, Justin Leonard and Anthony Kim.
