Where's Sergio

Sergio Garcia's 22nd place showing at this past weekend's Players championship is a major cause for concern for the erstwhile world's #2 ranked player. Finishing 2 under par and 10 shots off the lead this year following his impressive 2008 victory at this events leads many in the golf world to ask "Where's Sergio?".

Inconsistency seems to be the hallmark of Garcia's 2009 year-to-date performance. After falling to third place last month behind a re-surging Phil Mickelson, Garcia is at risk of tumbling futher down the world rankings if he does not put in an impressive performance leading up to the US Open at Bethpage Black. Behtpage is notorious for fast and unpredictable greens ... which play directly to Garcia's age-old nemisis - putting.

Still it is too early to rule out Garcia for the balance of the 2009 season, the fierce competitor has time to regroup as he heads to New York next month.
