Tiger Woods Seeks His Old Form at the Players

Some 3 months after returning to the PGA tour after knee surgery last summer Tiger Woods is still seeking his old form following an 8th place finish at the 2009 Players champion yesterday in Florida. Playing the final round 1 over par Woods had glimmers of his "old self" yet is struggling with consistency in both tee-to-green and his short game, coming up 7 shots off Hedrick Stenson's 12 under par victory.

With the one-year anniversary of his dramatic US Open play-off win in 2008 at Torre Pines over Rocko Mediate, Woods needs to find his game soon if he is to defend his crown.

Woods' grip on the world's #1 ranking appears safe for now as Phil Mickelson finished far off the pace at 3 over par. Nonetheless, both players will put a full court press on their preparations for Bethpage Black.
